Before the first pitch

Setting a game up so that everything after it lands in the right place.

Every pitch

One entry a pitch: where it was, what it was, what came of it.

Hit types

What the ball did off the bat, chosen first when a ball is put in play. It decides whether the spray chart shows a ground ball or a ball in the air, whether the ball counts as a hard hit (only a hard grounder, a line drive and a fly ball do), which batted-ball rate it counts in - a dribbler and a hard grounder are ground balls, a soft liner a line drive, a soft fly a fly ball - and which kind of out fits it.

A ball in play

IN PLAY opens three steps: the hit type, the result, and where the ball went. Then the runners.

Runners

After a ball in play, and whenever Runner Advance is on, Runner Outcomes asks where each runner ended up and why.

Substitutions

Offense under Pinch Hit and Runners, defense under Defense, pitchers under Pitcher.

Notes

Send Note writes into the game log and onto the live page without changing a statistic.

Fixing mistakes

Nothing recorded is final until the game is finalized.

Finishing a game

Finish Game, then the review. The game is official once Finalize Game is pressed.
